About David

30 years in tech. From the support desk of a 1995 Perth ISP to running AI ventures across Asia, Australia, and Europe — David started in the trenches and stayed hands-on the whole way.

David Taylor is not your typical consultant.

He started in the trenches — answering support calls at a tiny Perth ISP in 1995, back when the internet was still dial-up and most businesses didn't have a website. That raw, ground-floor start turned into a 16+ year career at iiNet (now Vodafone Australia), where he rose from programmer to Senior Development Manager, eventually leading teams of 17+ staff across multiple cities, overseeing systems that generated $900 million in revenue and served 750,000 customers.

At iiNet / Vodafone he didn't just manage — he built. He created a DevOps function from scratch when the term barely existed. He established a Revenue Recovery team that clawed back $6 million in a single year. He introduced continuous improvement strategies that cut operational incidents by 50% even as headcount shrank. He led PCI DSS compliance for payment systems processing hundreds of millions of dollars. And through it all, he mentored developers into team leads, building succession plans and loyalty that lasted well beyond his tenure.

But corporate life had a ceiling. In 2016, David founded Mindsheep — a digital marketing and lead generation agency working with Australian businesses across real estate, trades, retail, and professional services. He built a team of developers, marketers, and strategists across the Philippines and Indonesia, and learned firsthand the challenges and opportunities of building remote, cross-cultural teams. That experience led to Island Teams, an offshore staffing company designed for digital nomads and expats — a demographic he understood because he'd become one himself.

In late 2023, he co-founded a digital content marketing agency, grew it rapidly, and exited successfully in just six months. The acquiring company retained David as a leadership consultant for the next 18 months. During that time he mentored two successive CEOs, ran leadership training workshops at a company retreat in Thailand, and managed cross-cultural teams across Europe and the Philippines — building proper organisational foundations in a rapidly scaling business.

Today, David sits at the intersection of everything he's built: deep technical roots, real leadership experience at enterprise scale, a track record of building and selling businesses, and a genuine obsession with AI. He's CEO/Founder of Mindsheep Marketing and Mindsheep Labs, CTO of GroupFound, co-founder of Stellar Voice Agents, and co-founder of AI to the World. He spends his days helping businesses of all sizes figure out how AI fits into their world — not someday, but now.

Based in Asia. Working globally.

What drives me

A builder's mindset

01

Build, don't just talk

I'd rather ship something imperfect than present a perfect slide deck. Building is how you learn what works.

02

AI removes the boring work

The best use of AI isn't replacing people — it's freeing them from the repetitive tasks that drain their energy.

03

Results over theory

I measure everything by outcomes. If it doesn't move the needle, it doesn't matter how clever it is.

Want to work together?

If you're navigating an AI transition, building something from scratch, or just want a hands-on second opinion — I'd be happy to talk.
